Is it strange that I spent a weekend in New Orleans and didn't step foot in the French Quarter?
We stayed at a historic bed and breakfast called Park View Historic Hotel overlooking Audubon Park in the Garden District, across the street from Tulane and Loyola Universities, and spent the weekend wandering that part of town on foot.
I don't have photos, but we visited both the Whitney Plantation and the WWII museum. The Whitney Plantation is new to me, but it's the only plantation tour in the US that focuses on the enslaved residents rather than the splendor of the gardens or some other distraction. It centered slave narratives, genealogy, and didn't shy away from painful history. Let's just say I dropped a pretty penny in their bookstore.

| We bought unlimited tram passes and rode up and down St. Charles Ave all weekend |
For food, the Park View employees were super helpful in identifying great spots. I ate the best cornbread of my life at Jacques Imo's restaurant.
New Orleans makes my heart happy every time I visit.
